    Founded in 1955, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein) is one of the nation’s premier institutions for medical education, basic research and clinical investigation. A full-time faculty of some 2,000 conducts research, teaches, and delivers health care in every major biomedical specialty. The college has some 730 medical students, 193 Ph.D. students, 106 MD/Ph.D. students and 275 postdoctoral fellows.

     

    Einstein’s major strength, in addition to training physicians and scientists, is its science.     POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful candidate will be responsible for managing routine laboratory functions including (but not limited to) maintaining laboratory inventory, cell lines, and assisting with purchasing orders. In addition, the technician will assist in research that involves isolation of antibodies from mouse or human cell lines, produce and purify recombinant antibodies, and characterize those antibodies for their biological activities.

     

    The person will:

    • perform simple or moderately complex technical procedures
    • require occasional guidance
    • may occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies and equipment for the laboratory
    • Occasionally train other technical personnel
    • Rarely oversee other technical personnel.
    • Occasionally may be responsible for using, troubleshooting and maintaining complex high tech equipment
    • An understanding of simple scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required
    • Limited skills in the analysis and interpretation of data may be required.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelors in a Related Science required or equivalent skills and experience required.  M.S. Preferred.
    • 0-2 years experience required, 1 to 2 years in general lab work and cell culture preferred.
    • B.S. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Biology or related field
    • Must be able to calculate concentrations and prepare reagents correctly.
    • Organizational skills, detailed oriented, record keeping and initiative required.
