    Founded in 1955, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein) is one of the nation’s premier institutions for medical education, basic research and clinical investigation. A full-time faculty of some 2,000 conducts research, teaches, and delivers health care in every major biomedical specialty. The college has some 730 medical students, 193 Ph.D. students, 106 MD/Ph.D. students and 275 postdoctoral fellows.

     

    Einstein’s major strength, in addition to training physicians and scientists, is its science. During fiscal year 2015, the faculty’s consistently high level of scientific achievement resulted in the awarding of more than $150 million in peer-reviewed grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    Independently audit IRB full committee and expedited transactions (e.g. initial submissions, progress reports, amendments, etc.)
    Follow up with any outstanding issues after audit/review.
    Composes IRB transaction approval letters.
    Create entries on the IRB agenda for each transaction.
    Supports research community and staff in electronic submission process.
    Helps facilitate IRB Meetings.
    Independently drafts IRB minutes.
    Recommends changes to IRB application forms and consent documents and staff checklists to improve IRB operations.
    Work closely with IRB Sr. Staff, Associate Directors, Director, Chair, Principal Investigators, and other research staff.
    Liaise with external committees and departments (e.g. Research compliance, IBC, Legal, Office of Clinical Trials, etc.) for IRB submissions, if required.
    Alert Associate Directors/Director to non-compliance matters and/or deficiencies with the process.
    Provide support to the research community on the web-based system related to expedited and full review submissions.
    Perform other duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's Degree is preferred. 1-2 years of experience in an academic health center or medical school IRB is strongly preferred.
    Certification as an IRB professional (CIP) is preferred.
