    Founded in 1955, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein) is one of the nation’s premier institutions for medical education, basic research and clinical investigation. A full-time faculty of some 2,000 conducts research, teaches, and delivers health care in every major biomedical specialty. The college has some 730 medical students, 193 Ph.D. students, 106 MD/Ph.D. students and 275 postdoctoral fellows.

     

    Einstein’s major strength, in addition to training physicians and scientists, is its science. During fiscal year 2015, the faculty’s consistently high level of scientific achievement resulted in the awarding of more than $150 million in peer-reviewed grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and execute operational strategy for the lab
    • Develop standard operating procedures and provide direct staff management for all non-faculty positions
    • Assist PI to develop and implement research projects in the lab
    • Manage the individual staff projects leading to the successful completion of assigned projects
    • Management of all aspects of laboratory and research related procedures and protocols and procedure and protocol related documentation.
    • Assist in the execution of existing research procedures and protocols and the development of novel research procedure and protocols and work with lab members to circumvent any logistical and experimental problems which may arise.
    • Maintain database system.  Manage data collection, analysis and cleaning,performing regular audits to ensure that the data collected is complete and accurate
    • Ensure policies and procedures, daily assignments and assigned projects are being followed and executed on schedule
    • Provide timely status reports (including metrics) to the PI
    • Ensure supplies, equipment and resources are available in order to complete projects
    • Assist in monitoring and maintaining budgets for facility use.  Report monthly expenses to the PI and Administrator.  Provide recommendations for utilizing fiscal resources in the most efficient manner
    • Provide quality assurance measurements and reports on system stability to the PI
    • Ensure that the lab consistently follows the guidelines set forth by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelors Degree and 3-5 years of experience is required, including 3 + years of proven leadership experience and 1-2 years of related lab work

     

    Skills and Competencies

    • Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written)
    • Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of principles of financial management necessary to ensure the appropriate stewardship of university resources
    • Must have demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities and ability to make independent decisions and effectively communicate decisions and rationale to leadership
    • Must possess the ability to interact effectively with a large group of diverse individuals
    • Strong organizational abilities required
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and windows-based computer system and adept at learning new software programs
