    Founded in 1955, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein) is one of the nation’s premier institutions for medical education, basic research and clinical investigation. A full-time faculty of some 2,000 conducts research, teaches, and delivers health care in every major biomedical specialty.     • Implement subject intake/enrollment;
    • Explain the “Consent Form” to the participants and obtain their signature;
    • Schedule subjects for studies;
    • Monitor and assess the health status of assigned subjects;
    • Plan, implement, evaluate and document individualized care based on subject assessment;
    • Place intravenous catheters and handle routine blood sampling;
    • Monitor vital signs of subjects;
    • Administer investigational medications as needed per protocols;
    • Perform EKGs;
    • Perform data entry of medical records;
    • Contribute to the clinical research records;
    • Ensure implementation of research protocols;
    • Ensure clinic research records are available and appropriate for the protocols;
    • Establish and maintain communication with professional and ancillary personnel;
    • Perform and document quality checks;
    • Maintain and stock exam rooms;
    • Identify problems and trends, and recommend procedural changes for review by the directors;
    • Learn the use of electronic registration, scheduling and record-keeping systems, as well as electronic protocol application tracking systems, and other systems as required.
    • Perform other job-related functions as assigned.


    Key contacts/primary interfaces for this position include:

    • ICTR program directors, administrators, nursing and lab staff, and support staff;
    • Principal Investigators, research coordinators, research teams, Fellows, medical students;
    • Research participants and their families;
    • Hospital ancillary services, such as pharmacy, pathology, inpatient and outpatient units, etc.
    • The ICTR Research Nurse is a member of multidisciplinary team and her/his responsibilities include subject assessment and monitoring as well as keeping accurate Electronic Medical Records.
    • The Research Nurse will plan, implement, evaluate and document individualized care based on subject assessment and provide subject direct care to ensure implementation of specific research protocol.
    • She/he will provide expertise to assure optimal compliance with federal and state regulations as well as with research protocol requirements.
    • The Research Nurse will primarily work within the ICTR’s Clinical Research Centers located on both the Einstein and Moses campuses, as well as within the Clinical Research Facilitation Team to assist investigators at Einstein/Montefiore clinical service sites.


    • License to Practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State is required.  BSN preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience with good phlebotomy skills is required.
    • BLS certification required.
    • Familiarity with the Epic EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system is preferred.
    • Excellent communication/writing skills;
    • Knowledge of research database utilization;
    • Knowledge of “Good Clinical Practice “standards;
    • Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently;
    • Ability to manage time, multi task and prioritize work;
    • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems;
    • Ability to work well under pressure.
