    Founded in 1955, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Einstein) is one of the nation’s premier institutions for medical education, basic research and clinical investigation.     A team of researchers in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine has been conducting research aimed at improving prevention, care, and treatment of TB, drug-resistant TB and TB/HIV coinfection since 2006. The group's collaborating partners include Yale University, University of KwaZulu-Natal, the Medical Research Council of South Africa, and Philanjalo, a community based organization located in Tugela Ferry. We are looking for a self-motivated, highly-organized person with experience in project management. The Study Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the quality of a newly funded NIH research project. This position reports to a NY-based Principal Investigator and requires 30% travel to South Africa.


    • Provide principal research support to the PI in the administration of an NIH R01 grant and the completion of the study
    • Communicate between research sites and collaborating agencies
    • Assist PI with study design, implementation and management; assist with all aspects of study protocols and SOPs
    • Oversee IRB approvals and renewals
    • Interact with the clinical and study personnel at the study site to ensure smooth integration of the study into the clinical setting
    • Manage budgets, subcontract execution, invoicing for the study, and periodic reports to the funding agency
    • Meet regularly with the PI to review the study's progress and attend regular meetings of the Co-investigators and other Key Personnel
    • Support team of 3-5 staff in SA to ensure accurate completion of all study activities
    • Provide continual and targeted support and training to South Africa-based study team
    • Coordinate data operations and data flow between South Africa and US; monitor data quality and collaborate on quarterly data audits
    • Other duties as assigned


    • Bachelor's Degree and 2-3 years of experience in medical or public health research is required;
    • Master's Degree in Public Health or related field is preferred. Previous research experience or programmatic experience is highly preferred.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while working as part of a geographically disbursed team.
    • Strong computer skills, including MS Excel. MS Access and SAS are preferred.
    • Knowledge of biostatistics, epidemiology and study design.
