The technician will be responsible for assisting research laboratory personnel (instructors, assistant professors, fellows, and students) with the day-to-day needs of ongoing experiments involving research subjects.
This requires learning how to care for and maintain research subjects, and may require learning the basic details of research projects and how to analyze the resulting data.
- Perform day-to-day experiments involving the use of research subjects.
- Care for and maintain research subjects.
- Read scientific literature and understand the goals and rationale of research projects.
- Learn to analyze data using Matlab or Python or R and interpret the results. Knowledge of such programs is not required before starting but will be considered favorably if provided.
- Occasionally be responsible for ordering supplies and equipment for the laboratory.
- Rarely train or direct other technical staff.
