A research technician C position is available in the laboratory or Dr. Kira Gritsman, Associate Professor of Medicine and Cell Biology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The laboratory resides in the Albert Einstein Cancer Center, a major NCI-designated research institute with a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary programs and core laboratory facilities.
We are studying the roles of signaling pathways in adult blood stem cells, and are investigating novel therapeutic approaches to target malignant stem cells in leukemia and related blood disorders. We perform translational research using blood and bone marrow samples from patients with blood cancers. This position will involve the processing of blood and bone marrow patient samples on a regular basis for a hematologic malignancy tissue bank. This research may also involve analyzing genetic mouse models to examine the roles of specific kinase enzymes in hematopoiesis and in leukemia initiation and maintenance.
The position may involve the following:
• Processing of patient blood and bone marrow samples
• Polymerase chain reaction
• Cell culture
• Mouse work
• Basic flow cytometry
• Bachelors degree in a related science field is required
• 2-4.5 years of related experience
• Experience with mice is preferred
• Experience with sterile technique is preferred.
• The candidate should possess the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with fellow members and outside collaborators or vendors.
• The candidate should be able to multi-task and meet deadlines;
• The candidate should be able to work independently to solve or develop lab management and operational processes.
