Research Technician B

The Flow Cytometry Core Facility is a shared resource laboratory serving a large number of the research laboratories on the campus of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The facility houses and operates a large collection of advanced instruments for analytical flow cytometry and fluorescence activated cell sorting. Currently, the laboratory is staffed by two full time faculty and one senior, one junior technician who carry out supervision and training of a user base consisting of >500 scientists and assist the facility clients by carrying out procedures such as high-speed cell sorting, experimental design, data analysis. The technician B’s main responsibility is maintain and operate simple to moderate flow cytometry equipment and assist in many aspects of the routine operation of the core laboratory.

 

• Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures;

      *Maintaiing service logs and arrange for instrument repairs or service when needed;

      * Assist with the operation of flow cytometer and QC of instrument;

      * Assist with operation and maitenance of microscope

• Require occasional guidance;
• Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;
• Rarely modify technical procedures;
• Rarely train other lab members;
• Rarely guide other lab members;
• A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;
• Occasionally analyze data;
• Rarely interpret data;
• Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.

• Education:  BA or BS in Related Science 
• Experience: 0- 2 yrs. Experience or equivalent education and experience will also be considered

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rates for this are listed below. This rate is based on the 1199 bargaining unit contract.
