Research Technician B

This is a full-time research laboratory technician position. The position is in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology. Under general supervision and with some latitude for exercising independent technical judgment, the lab technician is responsible for planning and carrying out research procedures related to vascular calcification associated with kidney disease.  

The person will:

• Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures including: 
  • Plans and performs procedures in cell culture
  • Plans and performs procedures in immunofluorescence staining of vessels
  • Performs RNA, DNA preps, realtime qPCR, Western Blot and chemical analyses and bioassays involving vascular calcification
• Require occasional guidance;
• Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;
• Rarely modify technical procedures;
• Rarely guide other lab members;
• A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;
• Occasionally analyze data;
• Rarely interpret data;
• Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.*

Required to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a related science or equivalent skills and related experience, and zero to two years of related experience.
