About Us

The Cancer Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine currently has an exciting opportunity for a Research Technician B.

 

The selected applicant will be a member of the Genomics Core, which provides support to researchers via access to technologies required for modern basic and translational research. The technician will assist in research projects from numerous departments of the College including the Cancer Center, Genetics, Cell Biology, Medicine and others.

 

The applicant will interact with other lab members to understand the techniques used in the lab and to help in the efficient processing of samples. Applicant will communicate with researchers using the Core lab to describe the assays available in the Core. Applicant will report progress to the Core Lab Director on a daily basis, and to others as needed.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures;
    • Generating single cell RNA-seq libraries;
    • DNA sequencing;
    • magnetic bead DNA purification;
    • basic operation of Agilent Fragment Analyzer;
    • performing Reverse Transcription and PCR.
  • Require occasional guidance;
  • Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;
  • Rarely modify technical procedures;
  • Rarely train other lab members;
  • Rarely guide other lab members;
  • A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;
  • Occasionally analyze data;
  • Rarely interpret data;
  • Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.

QUALIFICATIONS

B.S./B.A. in related science or equivalent skills and experience plus 0-2 years experience required. Molecular biology laboratory experience strongly preferred.

 

 

 

Skills and Competencies:

• Understanding of basic molecular biology techniques.

•Ability to perform pipetting procedures with a high degree of accuracy and repeatability

 

• Demonstrated ability tobility to clearly document and communicate on tasks performed and challenges faced;

 

  Demonstrates strong attention to detail in all tasks and deliverables

 

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rates for this are listed below. This rate is based on the 1199 bargaining unit contract.
