About Us

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level in the Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health. The successful candidate will also serve as the Director of the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design Resource (BERD) within the Harold and Muriel Block Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR).

The ICTR, a partnership between the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Health System, has been continuously funded since 2008 by a Clinical and Translational Science Award from the NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences. From its inception, the ICTR’s vision has been to improve the health of people in the Bronx and other communities by accelerating the translation of biomedical advances into effective and sustainable disease prevention and treatment strategies. The ICTR provides robust research infrastructure, including biostatistics, informatics, and other critical research cores and services, to promote the efficient translation of scientific discoveries into improved patient outcomes.

 

The Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health includes more than 20 faculty members with active research programs in clinical trials methodology, statistical genetics and genomics, epidemiologic methods, machine learning, and analysis of real-world data. Biostatistics faculty collaborate widely across the institution; teach in the medical and graduate educational programs; and lead and participate in biostatistics resources in the ICTR, Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center, Center for AIDS Research, Einstein Aging Study, and other research programs. Faculty are also members of the new Einstein Data Science Institute established in 2025.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

 

We seek an experienced biostatistician with expertise in biostatistical methodology for a broad range of clinical and translational research, a strong record of collaborative, team-based science, and teaching accomplishments within an Academic Medical Center or School of Public Health. The faculty member will play a key role in advancing biomedical research and education, as well as supporting clinical and translational investigations, across Einstein and the Montefiore Health System. The position also includes leadership of the ICTR BERD resource which provides methodological support to investigators conducting research in clinical and translational fields, fosters the development of innovative methods, and provides biostatistics training opportunities.  

 

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating the consulting, research, and educational activities in the ICTR BERD resource; establishing policies and guidelines, managing funding and personnel issues, setting priorities, and providing vision and future direction.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary biomedical collaborations with investigators across Einstein and Montefiore
  • Conducting methodological and applied research in biostatistics
  • Teaching biostatistics courses for master’s and doctoral students in the biomedical sciences
  • Mentoring students, trainees, and junior faculty
  • Participating in departmental, institutional, and national service and leadership activities

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Areas of Expertise

Applicants with diverse methodological interests are encouraged to apply. Preferred areas of expertise include one or more of the following:

  • Machine learning/Artificial intelligence
  • Causal inference for observational and interventional studies
  • Bayesian methods
  • Clinical trials methodology
  • Analysis of electronic health records and other real world data

Qualifications

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a closely related field
  • A strong record of peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding commensurate with rank
  • Demonstrated excellence in collaborative research in clinical and translational science
  • Experience in biostatistics teaching and mentoring
  • For Full Professor candidates, evidence of sustained scholarly leadership and national or international recognition

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is listed below and dependent on academic rank. Albert Einstein College of Medicine considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Minimum Salary Range

USD $160,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary Range

USD $220,000.00/Yr.
